Free Magento UCP readiness check

Is your Magento store ready for AI shopping?

Shoppers now ask ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Mode what to buy, and the AI recommends the stores it can read. Shopify switched this on for its merchants. Magento stores have to set it up. See where yours stands in about a minute.

Chapter 1 · Maya's gift shop

Can AI even see my store?

Maya sells candles and gifts online. One evening she asks an AI assistant for a gift, the way more of her customers now do.

Maya typing a question into her laptop in her stockroom

MayaFind me a handmade candle gift under $40, delivered by Friday.

Scout, a glowing blue orb, picking one green product card among many

Inside the AIScout goes shopping for her.

ScoutPrice, stock, delivery, all readable. Picked!

Scout frowning at a scrambled, unreadable product card

ScoutThis store won't tell me its price or stock. Skipping!

Maya with her hand over her mouth, staring at her laptop

MayaWait. That was my store?!

Gia showing Maya her tablet at the packing table

GiaYour candles are lovely. Scout just can't read them yet.

MayaSo how do I fix that?

Maya, Frank and Scout are illustrated characters from our story series, and Gia is our illustrated guide. Their questions are ones real store owners ask in public forums.

Gia explains

AI assistants don't scroll your homepage. They read your product data, then show the shopper a short list, often just one store.

  • Shoppers ask in a sentence and get a handful of options, not ten pages of links.
  • The AI reads facts, not design: price, stock, delivery and returns. What it can't read or check, it leaves out.
  • Found in AI, bought on your store. The AI finds and recommends; the order completes on your own checkout. Your store has to be ready for both halves.
Chapter 2 · Frank's warehouse

Is this real, or just hype?

Frank makes parts and sells them wholesale. He has heard about AI shopping. He isn't convinced.

Frank with his arms crossed in his warehouse

FrankMy buyers don't use AI. They pick up the phone and call me.

GiaThe numbers say otherwise. Want to see?

Gia, honestly

It's early, and it's growing fast. Shopping inside the chat stalled in early 2026. What works now is simpler: the AI finds your product, recommends it, and sends the shopper to your own checkout. That's where we start.

Chapter 3 · The old price tag

Why did the AI show my old price?

A week later, a customer messages Maya: the AI quoted a price she changed months ago.

Maya frowning at her phone

MayaWhere did it even get that price?

Scout looking at a product card with an old paper price tag

ScoutThis old tag was all I could find, so I used it.

Gia at her laptop while product cards line up and glow green

GiaGive Scout fresh, complete facts and it stops guessing.

Gia explains

Assistants build their answer from what your store publishes: the product details in your pages, your Merchant Center feed and your policy pages. When that is missing, stale or out of step, they can end up using whatever they last saw.

  • Price and stock on every product, in a form machines read
  • A product feed that keeps itself current
  • Shipping and returns stated so an agent can check them
Chapter 4 · Coffee with Frank

We run on Magento, though.

Other platforms switched it on for their merchants. Magento stores have to do it themselves. Adobe is shipping the rails; your store still has to get on them.

Frank holding a coffee mug and asking Gia a question

FrankShopify stores get this switched on. What about us?

Gia explaining with a coffee cup in her hand

GiaMagento has no switch, so each store sets it up. No new platform. No redesign.

Shopify made it automatic.

Shopify's Agentic Storefronts channel puts its merchants' products into ChatGPT, Copilot, Google AI Mode and Gemini with no app to install. Magento has no equivalent switch.

Google's agent checkout reached Canada and Australia.

Checkout inside Google AI Mode and Gemini runs on UCP. Google now lists it for participating merchants in the U.S., Canada and Australia. Onboarding runs through Google Merchant Center.

Adobe committed to the standards.

Adobe Commerce committed to UCP and ACP, with no published date for native support. Each store still has to be configured, checked against real agents and kept up to date as the standards move.

Chapter 5 · Scout's checklist

Five doors Scout walks through before it recommends a store.

The free Magento UCP checker scores these five areas on the same engine our clients use. A store that gets stuck at an early door never reaches the later ones.

Scout floating before a row of five glowing doorways, the first one green

ScoutEvery store gets the same five doors. How far does yours get?

Door 1

Found

AI search crawlers and shopping agents can reach your catalogue, and are allowed to.

robots rules block AI crawlers, or the product feed is stale.

Door 2

Understood

Every product carries complete, structured facts: price, stock, size, material, GTIN.

key details live only in images or marketing copy.

Door 3

Trusted

The store proves who it is and states its shipping and returns policies in a form agents can verify.

policies exist only as prose pages an agent cannot parse.

Door 4

Buyable

An agent can build a cart and hand the shopper to a checkout that works.

the setup validates, but caching or extensions break the live store.

Door 5

Kept ready

It stays true every day as the catalogue, extensions and standards change.

a deploy, a cache rule or a spec update quietly undoes last month's work.

Gia explains

A module installs the plumbing. Readiness is proven when an agent completes the path. Free and low-cost Magento modules exist, and they are a good start. On Magento the hard part comes after the install: caching, third-party extensions and multi-store setups can leave a store that passes a validator and still fails a real agent.

So readiness needs an owner: someone who tests the live store the way an agent uses it, fixes what breaks, and checks again after every change. We work with whichever module your store runs, including Adobe's native support as it arrives.

Plus, shown but not scored: Google Universal Cart, the hand-off that sends a basket from AI Mode or Gemini to your own site.

Scored against the open standards agents use: UCP (Universal Commerce Protocol, Google and Shopify) · ACP (Agentic Commerce Protocol) · AP2 (Agent Payments Protocol) · MCP (Model Context Protocol) · schema.org structured data

Chapter 9 · Ask Gia

Magento, UCP and AI shopping agents, answered.

What is agentic commerce?

Agentic commerce is AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Mode and Perplexity researching, comparing and increasingly buying products on a shopper's behalf. The shopper asks in plain language; the agent reads structured data from stores and returns a shortlist. Agentic commerce readiness is how well a store can be found, understood, trusted and bought from in that process.

What is Google UCP, and why does it matter for Magento stores?

The Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP) is the open standard Google and Shopify built so AI agents such as Google AI Mode and Gemini can read what a store supports, hand over a shopper's cart and complete checkout. Shopify stores get UCP from the platform. Magento and Adobe Commerce stores have no built-in switch, so each store has to set it up. What is UCP, explained.

How do I enable UCP on Magento 2?

Magento has no setting for it. A store needs a module or custom code that publishes a UCP profile at /.well-known/ucp and answers its checkout endpoints, complete structured product data, machine-readable shipping and returns policies, and Google Merchant Center onboarding. Then test the live store the way an agent uses it, because full-page cache, Varnish and extensions can break what a validator passes. Run the free check to see where your store stands.

Is there a UCP module for Magento?

Yes, several, free and paid, and a module is usually part of the fix. On its own it rarely makes a Magento store ready: product data gaps, policies, caching and extension conflicts decide whether an agent can complete the path. Goofre works with the module a store already has, or installs one.

Does Adobe Commerce support UCP natively yet?

Not yet. Adobe committed to UCP and ACP on 18 February 2026 and has not published a date for native support. Until it ships, Adobe Commerce and Magento Open Source stores need a module or custom work, and each store still has to be configured, verified against real agents and kept conformant as the standard changes.

How do I get my Magento products into ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Mode?

AI assistants recommend stores they can read and trust. Let AI search crawlers such as OAI-SearchBot, PerplexityBot and Googlebot reach your catalogue, give every product complete structured data (price, stock, identifiers, shipping, returns), keep your Merchant Center feed current, and publish a UCP profile so Google AI Mode and Gemini can hand shoppers to your checkout.

Is Google AI Mode checkout available in Canada and Australia?

Yes, for participating merchants. Google's Merchant Center help lists UCP-powered checkout in AI Mode and Gemini for eligible products in the United States, Canada and Australia. Onboarding runs through Google Merchant Center, and the merchant stays the seller of record. Google Merchant Center Help

What is Google Universal Cart?

Universal Cart lets a shopper build a basket in AI Mode or Gemini and send it to the merchant's own site to finish buying. A store supports it by declaring dev.ucp.shopping.cart in its UCP profile on UCP version 2026-04-08 or later and answering POST /carts. The free check shows whether your store declares it.

How long does it take to make a Magento store agent-ready?

Start with 5 products you name: they are AI-ready within 14 days, free, and most stores are done in 7. Every check Goofre owns passes by day 30 on a re-scan, or the next month is free. Merchant Center and GA4 AI-referral tracking follow in days 30 to 60. See the full timeline.

Will you change my checkout or theme?

No redesign and no replatforming. The work happens in structured data, feeds, policies, configuration and a storefront module. Orders still complete on the merchant's own checkout, and the customer relationship stays with the merchant.

Do you support WooCommerce or Shopify?

Goofre focuses on Magento and Adobe Commerce today, because those stores have no built-in path to AI shopping agents. WooCommerce support is coming next. Shopify merchants get much of this through Shopify's own Agentic Storefronts.

Can developers and agencies deliver this for their own clients?

Yes. The Agentic Commerce Orchestrator™ programme trains and certifies Magento developers and agencies to deliver readiness for their own clients. Membership is free, and certification is earned by readying a real store. See the path to ACO™.
